When you give to St. Baldrick’s, you support childhood cancer research.

St. Baldrick’s has long been at the center of funding needed childhood cancer research. Lift Brigade has supported St. Baldrick fundraising efforts at such events as: Craig Lusinger’s events in Marble Falls, the University of Texas Brave the Shave – S. M. I. L. E. event, and will be attending the Children’s Blood and Center (CBCC) @ Dell Children’s annual event this year.

Beyond lack of funding, two primary issues that need to be addressed:

  1. Not all cancers are “cureable”  – meaning that there are many cancers that have no cure or the result of the treatment may lead to other cancers. This is not acceptable. More money is needed for research on how to treat these “rare” cancers.
  2. For cancers that are “cureable” – studies show up to as many 90% develop one or more chronic health conditions and up to as many as 80% experience severe or life-threatening complications during adulthood. Fact: most pediatric cancer treatments given to kids are simply “down-sized” adult protocols using the same drugs. We must find less toxic approaches and treatments.

When you see a St. Baldrick’s sponsored event… know it is for a good cause.
